SOCOB Outreach Program: Extending a Hand to Fire-Affected Families

Following an emergency meeting by the officers of the Society of Outstanding Citizens of Baguio (SOCOB), a collective decision was made to extend assistance to families displaced by the New Year’s midnight fire in Camp 6, Tuba, Benguet.

The tragic fire reportedly claimed one life, injured two individuals, and destroyed 26 houses, leaving 62 families homeless and causing property damage estimated at ₱37.5 million.

In response, SOCOB utilized cash contributions from its members and an approved allocation from its fund to procure food packs containing assorted groceries and rice.

On January 11, 2025, SOCOB officers, led by President Joel Arthur Tibaldo, Past President Dr. Elma Donaal, and officers Dona Digna Rosario, Beth Yu So, Albert Fermin Guinguino, and Helen Tibaldo, visited the affected area. They coordinated with Barangay Camp 6 officials, including Punong Barangay Johnny Dogao and Barangay Kagawads, to distribute the relief goods.
The distribution took place at the Barangay Hall, located less than a kilometer from the city limits along Kennon Road.

SOCOB’s assistance highlights its commitment as a catalyst for goodwill and community empowerment. While the beneficiaries are not residents of Baguio, they are part of the shared regional community, reflecting SOCOB’s values of inclusivity and solidarity. This initiative was informed by a needs assessment conducted during President Tibaldo’s onsite visit on January 4, 2025.

Through this act of kindness, #SOCOB aims to inspire hope and relief for those in crisis, demonstrating the spirit of generosity and care that defines the organization. Your continued support will go a long way in uplifting and empowering affected families.
