SLU Shifts to Online Classes Due to Rising Flu Cases

Saint Louis University administration announced 22 October 2025 that classes are shifted to online from elementary to Graduate School from 23 October to the 27th. The adjustment aims to safeguard the health and well-being of the learners and faculty due to the spread of Flulike symptoms in the City.
Although City Health Officer Dr. Celia Flor Brillantes reported that a total of 2,657 Influenza-like illnesses (ILI) from January to October this year representing a 44 percent decrease compared to 2024. Dr. Donnabel Panes, City Health Services Office (CHSO) City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (CESU) chief said that it was a good sign that the health practices are working but should not let our guards down.
The face-to-face classes for SLU resume on Monday, 27 October.
Although, SLU remains open with the non-teaching staff continuing work in their offices on campus but observing health protocols to ensure a safe working environment, said the advisory. And the Health Services Unit (HSU) remains open for check-ups and distribution of vitamins to students.
Handwashing and wearing of masks in crowded areas was encouraged. They advised that those with respiratory infection symptoms should seek medical advice or stay home to prevent the spread of the disease.
