Kabayan, Benguet – A fairly thick ice formation locally called “Andap” was recorded around 10am in the morning March 14, 2026 along the lower areas of Mt.Pulag, the second highest mountain in the Philippines.
Henry Lacbawan was able to document the rare phenomenon in the month of March. This Andap is for the records due to its volume and thickness and the 10:00 am time of occurrence. This is usually observed in the early dawn mornings and lasts for less than an hour, mostly made up of very thin sheets if ice formations in the months of late January to early February but not in March.
A sure sign of the changing climate around the world, this thick ice formations portend more drastic changes in temperature that will affect lives and livelihood in these parts of the country.
