by: Nonnette C. Bennett

The Sunday Punch bade the printed newspaper world for the last time in the July 5-11, 2026 edition. The final issue after 70 years of punching, as it headlined, it is the third member of Philippine Press Institute to write 30.
The Baguio Midland Courier bowed out after 77 years in 2024 and likewise a Visayan daily newspaper. Similar to the BMC, The Sunday Punch was a family owned enterprise with two generations keeping the vision of delivering the news to the community.
Although other members of the PPI has transitioned to online publications, many are coping with the rigors of digital technology in delivering grassroots news.
