RDC-1 approves 30 priority projects worth P5.497B for Ilocos Region

The Regional Development Council-1 (RDC-1) approved 30 priority projects requiring an estimated P5.497 billion in investments for fiscal year 2028 during its third quarter meeting in San Fernando City, La Union on Sept. 16, 2026.
The projects are being considered for inclusion in the updated Public Investment Program and the 2028 national budget.

La Union Gov. Mario Eduardo C. Ortega, RDC-1 chairperson, presided over the meeting where the council endorsed projects covering health, transportation and connectivity, agriculture and irrigation, education, social protection, science and technology, innovation, and water security.
Ortega emphasized the need for a unified framework to help national government agencies and local government units align their programs, investments, and policies toward regional development.
The council also approved the region’s P116.125-billion Annual Investment Program for fiscal year 2028.
Among the other proposals acted upon during the meeting were the La Union Medical Hub, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. Bridges Projects, projects proposed for funding under the Enhanced ER1-94, and local infrastructure initiatives.
RDC-1 also approved measures aimed at supporting local enterprises, strengthening the textile industry, protecting natural resources, and streamlining government permitting processes.
