City officials recently reminded all schools and other institutions in the city of Section 5 or the dengue prevention and control provisions of Ordinance 66, series of 2016 or the city’s Anti-Dengue measure.
Under Resolution No. 535, series of 2024, local legislators stated that in light of the ongoing threat posed by the increase in dengue cases, the active cooperation of all households, business owners, schools, other institutions, hospitals, church organizations, and government and private offices or work places, is crucial in the fight against the dreaded illness as they play a significant role in promoting awareness and implementing preventive measures among the community.
The council claimed that as anticipated during the rainy season, the increase in dengue cases is a result of the increase in rainfall, which causes more water to pool and become stagnant, Aedes aegypti mosquitoes are responsible for spreading dengue that breeds on stagnant pools of water if left unchecked.
Earlier, the body, through Ordinance No. 66, series of 2016, provided for the prevention and control measures to mitigate dengue cases in the city and require all residents to strengthen the fight against dengue.
Section 5 of the aid ordinance provided the preventive and control measures against dengue for the general welfare and safety of the residents in the city.
Copies of the approved resolution will be transmitted to the concerned schools and institutions for information, guidance, ready reference and further needed action. Baguio City Public Information Office
