Atok farmers employ water conservation farm methods

Atok, Benguet, July 22, 2026 – The looming water crisis with the prediction of the incoming El Nino phenomenon by weather experts has caused farmers to implement conservation methods.

Farmers in Atok, Benguet use rotary nozzles for precision sprinklers or drip emitters for direct-to-root delivery to conserve water. The rotary nozzles sprinkle water slowly using multiple spinning streams, allowing deep soil absorption, and reducing runoff.
Drip emitters save up to 70 percent more water by bypassing foliage and evaporation entirely.
The Municipality of Atok is a major temperate vegetable producing community located two hours from Baguio City.
