BAGUIO CITY — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) will resume voter registration in the region with the change in the schedule of the Barangay and Sanggunian Kabataan for 2026.
Benguet Provincial Election Supervisor Atty. Elenita Tabangin-Capuyan on 3 October 2025 said that the new voter registration will begin on the third week of October in preparation for the rescheduled local elections.
Capuyan said that Comelec Chairperson George Erwin Garcia made this pronouncement almost two months after the poll body conducted a 10-day voter registration drive before the postponement of 2025 BSKE.
The COMELEC is expecting 1.4 million registrants nationwide with the resumption. Garcia said that the new voter registration period will last until July next year, four months away from the November 2 elections.
In the 10-day registration in August, Cordillera new voters numbered 48,757. Benguet including Baguio City voters numbered 16,047 or 33 % of the total number registered.
