Tinglayan, Kalinga (May 27, 2026) — The Police Regional Office Cordillera Administrative Region (PRO CAR) achieved another significant breakthrough in its sustained anti-illegal drug campaign after operatives uncovered and destroyed marijuana plantations valued at ₱162,020,000.00 during a one-day operation at Mt. Whatong, Barangay Loccong, Tinglayan, Kalinga.

Marijuana plants are cut and gathered from more than eight sites in the five hectare plantation.

According to reports submitted to the Regional Operations Division, authorities discovered eight plantation sites spanning approximately 52,000 square meters. The sites contained an estimated 477,500 grams of dried marijuana stalks with leaves and fruiting tops, 456,000 fully grown marijuana plants, and 338,000 seedlings, all with a combined Standard Drug Price (SDP) of ₱162,020,000.00.

Oplant revisit Everest 2.0 directed by PBGEN Ericson D. Dilag, RD of PRO CAR, personally led by PCOL Ledon D. Monte, Deputy RD for operations led the operations that went full force eradication in Tinglayan, Kalinga.

The operation was conducted under OPLAN “Revisit Everest 2.0”, directed by PBGEN Ericson D. Dilag, Regional Director of PRO CAR, and personally led by PCOL Ledon D. Monte, Deputy Regional Director for Operations.

The joint effort involved personnel from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Kalinga, the Kalinga Police Provincial Office (PPO), its Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU), Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU), all Municipal Police Stations (MPS), and Provincial Mobile Force Companies (PMFCs). They were supported by the PDMU Kalinga, RDEU, RID, RMFB15, PRO CAR Squadron, as well as the PDEU of Ifugao PPO and Benguet PPO’s 2PMFC.

After proper documentation, all marijuana plants were uprooted and burned on-site. Authorities are now pursuing leads to identify those responsible for cultivating the illegal plantations.

This accomplishment reinforces the Chief PNP’s agenda of dismantling the illegal drug trade at its source, even in remote mountain areas where cultivators attempt to conceal operations. The use of drones enabled operatives to scan vast, rugged terrain and pinpoint hidden plantation sites.

PRO CAR emphasized its continued commitment to the anti-illegal drug campaign, vowing to sustain operations and strengthen coordination with partner agencies and communities to ensure a safer, drug-free Cordillera region.
