SIMMINUBLAN FALLS

by Hanna C. Lacsamana

Take a refreshing dip in a palayok-shaped body of water in La Union’s Simminublan Falls!

Surrounded by lush greenery and mountain view nestled in rock formations, Simminublan Falls is a perfect nature escape for those adventurous at heart.

Located in Sitio Bilagan, Barangay Puquil, Santol, La Union, Simminublan Falls is a hidden spot which derived its name from the pool’s shape that resembles a palayok or traditional clay pot. Visitors can swim in its emerald waters but with caution as the basin is quite deep at around 20 meters.

To reach Simminublan Falls, take or hire a tricycle from Santol town proper. Part of the route requires a short hike from the main access road, passing through a dirt road and a partly rocky part of the river. The trip is worth taking; just wear comfortable walking shoes.

Best time to visit is during the dry season months.
