The Baguio City council authorized the release of P2 million from the city’s Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Fund-Quick Response Fund (LDRRMF-QRF) during their 6 October 2025 session.

The Baguio City Council unanimously approved a resolution providing financial aid to the Province of Cebu after the magnitude 6.9 earthquake on 30 September left 69 dead, more than 300 injured, and around 15,000 families displaced.

Bogo City, San Remigio, Medellin, and Daanbantayan, the four hardest hit areas will receive P500,000.00 each to help cover urgent needs such as food, clean water, medicine, and temporary shelter.

The Local Finance Committee (LFC) certified the available funds in the current budget. Mayor Benjamin Magalong had requested the funds’ release to ensure relief could reach the affected communities promptly.

Under the approved resolution, the Baguio City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) will coordinate with the Cebu LGUs and the Philippine Red Cross for the distribution. Liquidation reports are required of the LGUs by December 1, 2025.

Other donations are encouraged in the resolution in cash or in-kind through the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO).
