Baguio City – The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Male Dorm led by JCINSP John Wayland M Lapon received the second batch of Black Soldier Fly Larvae to continue the conversion of the biodegradable waste of the facility and the Female Dorm into livestock and fish food and fertilizer on July 10, 2025.
Dr. James Bayang, DVM, and owner of Doc Brahman Agritech Services, delivered 20 grams of BSF larvae to continue the process of converting the biowastes of both agencies into productive resources that sustain the circular economy. Bayang said that through the larvae that continuously consume the waste for some 15 days, the end products are organic instead of toxic leachate and gas.
The project that was started on July 2 is in partnership with the Rotary Club of Baguio North and the Doc Brahman Agritech Services to help BJMP solve the solid waste management issue.
