Benguet new voters highest in CAR

Out of the 48,757 new voter registrants in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), Benguet posted the highest at 16,047 or 33 % of the total number, according to the 10-day registration period report of the Commission on Elections (COMELEC).

Abra provincial results showed 8,115 registrants making up 17% as the second highest or half of the Benguet results and Ifugao with 7,449 at 15%. Apayao at 5,506 and Mt. Province with 5,415 at 11%.

 

CAR posted the lowest number of new voters in the country at 48,757 making up only 2% of the total 2,727,643 new voters in the country.

 

The highest registration was in Region 4A with 324,017 or 12% of the total registrants. Second highest was posted by the Negros Island Region (NIR) at 234,032 at 9%. Third was Region 3 with 220,650.

 

NCR’s 188,702 registrants were below Region 5 with 206,845 new voters. Regions 1, 7, and 8 had 141,121; 144,141; and 143,233 which represent 5% each of registered voters in the country.

 

There were 10,549 registrants who Special Register Anywhere Program which means they can register in selected areas in NCR, Region 3, and Region 4. Regional Election Supervisor Atty. Elenita Capuyan of COMELEC CAR said that registrants in these three areas need not visit their municipal or city election offices to register in their polling precincts.
