President Bongbong Marcos visits the La Trinidad Trading Post On April 17 to check on the plight of the vegetable traders.

La Trinidad, Benguet – April 17, 2026 –President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. visited La Trinidad, Benguet to personally assess the province’s agricultural trading hubs and engage with farmers, traders, and stakeholders in the vegetable supply chain.

At the La Trinidad Vegetable Trading Post, the President observed the bustling trade of highland produce and spoke directly with farmers, wholesalers, and retailers. He then toured the Benguet Agri-Pinoy Trading Center (BAPTC), a modern facility that has become a vital link between Cordillera farmers and major markets in Metro Manila. The center’s role in streamlining distribution underscores its importance in stabilizing prices and ensuring farmers gain fair access to buyers.

During the visit, the President inspected farm inputs and equipment set for distribution to 45 Farmer Cooperatives and Associations (FCAs) in Benguet. Alongside these tools, the Department of Agriculture announced cash grants totaling ₱7.25 million to further support local producers.

In a gesture of solidarity, the Office of the President purchased vegetables from the trading hubs for distribution to communities in need, including residents of Caloocan, Navotas, Malabon, Quezon City, Pasay, and Manila. Supplies were also earmarked for the DSWD NCR Walang Gutom Kitchen, correctional facilities such as the New Bilibid Prison and Manila City Jail, and orphanages across Metro Manila.

This initiative reflects the administration’s broader commitment to strengthening the agricultural value chain—from production to market access—while ensuring food security for vulnerable communities. By directly supporting farmers and enhancing distribution systems, the government aims to deliver affordable, high-quality produce to households across the country.
