Polluted Ambuklao Dam

By: Hanna Lacsamana

Bokod, Benguet 16 October 2025 – Ambuklao Dam is heavily polluted with garbage. The sad plight of this site that used to be a magnet for tourists for its Instagrammable view and fresh tilapia now greets passing motorists with plastic bottles and other discarded waste.

According to residents, the piles of trash, mostly empty plastic bottles mixed with assorted garbage, come from upper towns and some are indiscriminately thrown from the road located at the upper part of the mountain beside the dam.

A resident said several “No dumping of garbage” signs have been installed along the said road and within the dam’s premises by barangay officials covering the area, but the dumping of garbage continues leading to the polluted state of a portion of the dam.
