Next month, there will be no boating at the Burnham Lake yet, announced the City Environment and Parks Management Office (CEPMO).
CEPMO head, Atty. Rhenan Diwas said, “The rehabilitation is aimed at restoring the lake’s ecological balance, improving water quality and ensuring its sustainable management.”
The project will be undertaken by the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) in coordination with the CEPMO.
The rehabilitation will be implemented in four phases to ensure that improvements are properly planned and sustainably executed, Diwas said according to the Burnham Park Master Development Plan.
Plans posted online by TIEZA showed that the rehab will include improvement of plumbing, landscaping, installation of lights and other fixtures that will improve the water quality as well as its surroundings.
The last time the lake was dredged was in 2013. The improvement at the lake in the succeeding years were limited to surface cleaning and treatment of algal bloom in 2023.
